665 Youth Get PSPCL Jobs, CM Mann Highlights Employment Revolution

Punjab Creates Record by Providing 68,268 Government Jobs in Just 4.5 Years: CM

Bathinda, June 23

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday handed over appointment letters to 665 newly recruited candidates of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) and announced that Punjab has created a record by providing 68,268 government jobs in just four-and-a-half years.

Addressing the gathering in Bathinda, the Chief Minister said that Punjab is rapidly emerging as a preferred destination for government jobs. He noted that many youngsters who had earlier moved abroad are now returning to the state due to the transparent and merit-based recruitment policy adopted by his government.

Mann urged Punjabis working overseas to come back to their homeland, assuring them that the state government would provide regular employment opportunities and make them active partners in Punjab’s socio-economic development.

“The era of cash-for-jobs and recommendations is over in Punjab. Today, government jobs are being provided purely on the basis of merit and eligibility. Not a single recruitment carried out by our government has been challenged in court,” the Chief Minister said.

He further stated that the transparent recruitment process has restored the faith of the youth in the system and has encouraged reverse migration, with many youngsters preferring to return to Punjab rather than seek opportunities elsewhere.

The Chief Minister highlighted that Punjab has made remarkable progress in the field of education and has secured the number one position in primary and middle-school education, surpassing states like Kerala, Maharashtra and Delhi.

He said that the government has transformed the education sector through smart classrooms, modern teaching methods and advanced teacher training programmes.

Announcing another major initiative, Mann said that women government employees would soon get the benefit of postings within a 40-kilometre radius of their homes after completing their probation period, enabling them to maintain a better work-life balance.

The Chief Minister reiterated that public money is being spent on the welfare of the people through schools, hospitals, roads and social welfare schemes. He added that over 90 percent of households in Punjab are receiving free electricity and major investments are being made in infrastructure development.

Speaking about agriculture, Mann said that canal water usage for irrigation has increased from 22 percent to over 80 percent under his government. He added that around 14,000 kilometres of pipelines and watercourses have been laid across the state to improve irrigation facilities and conserve groundwater.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, under which health cards are being issued to all 65 lakh families in Punjab, providing cashless treatment up to Rs 10 lakh per family.

Referring to the upcoming Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, Mann announced that the scheme will be launched from July 1. Under the scheme, every woman above 18 years of age will receive Rs 1,000 per month, while women belonging to the Scheduled Caste category will get Rs 1,500 per month.

“The government is committed to ensuring equal opportunities for every deserving youngster and building a prosperous and vibrant Punjab,” he said.

Several successful candidates, including Jia Garg, Amandeep Singh Pannu, Labhdeep Singh, Rabinder Singh Takkhar, Kirti, Pushpinder, Akaljot Singh and others, thanked the Chief Minister for providing jobs purely on merit and said the transparent recruitment process had transformed their lives.
