Park Hospital Sets New Benchmark in Heart Care with Innovative Rotatripsy Procedure
Patiala, 2 July
Park Hospital, Patiala has successfully performed its first OCT-guided Rotatripsy procedure, marking a significant milestone in the treatment of complex coronary artery disease.
Consultant Cardiologist Dr. Arshdeep Singh Sandhu said the procedure was carried out on a patient with a heavily calcified coronary artery, a challenging condition that can make angioplasty and stent placement more difficult.
To accurately assess the extent of calcium buildup, the cardiac team used Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), an advanced imaging technology that provides detailed, high-resolution images of the inside of the artery.

Based on the OCT findings, the team performed Rotatripsy, an innovative technique that combines Rotational Atherectomy (Rotablation) with Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL).
During the procedure, Rotablation was used to remove the hard calcium deposits, while IVL shockwave therapy helped fracture the remaining calcium and improve the flexibility of the artery. This advanced approach enabled optimal stent placement and expansion, resulting in an excellent clinical outcome.
The entire procedure was completed successfully without any complications, highlighting Park Hospital Patiala’s commitment to providing cutting-edge cardiac care using the latest interventional technologies.
