Chandigarh, July 28
Punjab Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Minister Gurmeet Khudian on Tuesday handed over appointment letters to five newly recruited officials in the Fisheries Department, reinforcing the state’s commitment to strengthening technical expertise and boosting fish production.
The appointments were made during a ceremony held at the Punjab Civil Secretariat in Chandigarh. The newly inducted officials include one Junior Engineer, three Laboratory Technicians, and one Laboratory Assistant.
Congratulating the recruits, Khudian urged them to serve with honesty, dedication, and professionalism. He said the fisheries sector offers significant opportunities for rural development and economic growth, and the newly appointed officials will play an important role in enhancing the department’s efficiency.
The minister stated that the recruitment reflects the Punjab Government’s commitment to transparent and merit-based hiring. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the government is not only filling vacant posts but also strengthening the administrative and technical capabilities of various departments, he added.

Highlighting the government’s efforts, Khudian said 50 vacancies have been filled in the Fisheries Department so far, including 22 Fisheries Officers, to improve monitoring of aquaculture and inland fisheries across Punjab.
He further informed that the Mann-led government has provided more than 68,000 government jobs across various departments since assuming office, reaffirming its commitment to creating employment opportunities for the state’s youth.
