Chandigarh, October 12
The Punjab Government has extended self-employment loans worth ₹4.82 crore to 139 beneficiaries belonging to the Backward Classes, enabling them to establish their own businesses and strengthen their livelihoods, Cabinet Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Dr Baljit Kaur said.
The minister said that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government is implementing welfare-oriented policies aimed at ensuring equal opportunities for progress and development for all sections of society. She added that promoting self-employment and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for economically weaker families remain key priorities of the government.
Dr Baljit Kaur said that self-employment schemes are encouraging beneficiaries to utilise their skills and capabilities to establish independent ventures and become financially self-reliant. The objective, she said, is not limited to providing financial assistance but also to empower people to increase their family incomes and contribute to the state’s economic growth.
