The Asia Cup 2025 kicks off on September 9, with India set to launch their campaign against host nation United Arab Emirates on September 10. The much-awaited India vs Pakistan clash is scheduled for September 14, with the possibility of two more encounters if both teams reach the Super 4 stage and the final.
Organized by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), the Asia Cup was first held in 1983 and takes place biennially to determine the continental champions. Now in its 17th edition, the tournament will feature eight teams split into two groups.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 4 stage, with the top two from there competing in the final on September 28.

Asia Cup 2025 Teams

Group A: India, Pakistan, UAE, Oman

Group B: Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Hong Kong China
The tournament begins with Afghanistan taking on Hong Kong China. India will start their journey the next day against UAE.
India, the defending champions, hold the record for the most Asia Cup titles with eight victories. Sri Lanka follows with six wins, while Pakistan has claimed the title twice.
Since 2016, the Asia Cup has alternated between ODI and T20I formats, and this year it will be held in the 20-over format as a precursor to the T20 World Cup next year. Sri Lanka last won the Asia Cup in the T20 format in 2022, defeating Pakistan in the final.
