BCCI Suspends IPL 2025 for One Week Amid National Security Concerns

Mumbai, 09 May (Sports Desk)

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the immediate suspension of the TATA IPL 2025 for one week. The decision, made by the IPL Governing Council after thorough consultations with franchisees, broadcasters, sponsors, and fans, reflects concerns over the current national situation. The BCCI will provide updates on the revised schedule and venues following a detailed assessment with relevant authorities and stakeholders.

The suspension follows representations from most IPL franchisees, who expressed the apprehensions of their players, alongside sentiments from broadcasters, sponsors, and fans. While the BCCI maintains full confidence in the strength and readiness of India’s armed forces, it deemed it prudent to prioritize the collective interests of all stakeholders.

At this critical moment, the BCCI stands in solidarity with the nation, expressing unwavering support for the Government of India, the Armed Forces, and the people of the country. The Board commends the bravery, courage, and selfless service of the armed forces, whose heroic efforts under Operation Sindoor continue to safeguard the nation in response to recent terrorist attacks and unprovoked aggression by Pakistan’s military.

The BCCI emphasizes that, while cricket is a national passion, the sovereignty, integrity, and security of India take precedence. The Board remains steadfast in supporting all efforts to protect the nation and will align its decisions with the country’s best interests.

The BCCI extends its gratitude to JioStar, the official broadcaster of the IPL, for their understanding and resolute support. The Board also appreciates Title Sponsor TATA and all associate partners and stakeholders for their unequivocal backing of this decision, placing national interest above all other considerations.
