BCCI Unveils Women’s Central Contracts for 2024-25: Three Players Elevated to Grade A

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has rolled out a 16-player central contract list for the Indian Women’s cricket team for the 2024-25 season, effective from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025.

Leading the pack in Grade A are all-format captain Harmanpreet Kaur, prolific batter Smriti Mandhana, and versatile all-rounder Deepti Sharma, recognized for their stellar and consistent performances over the years.

Grade-Wise Player Breakdown:

  • Grade A: Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma
  • Grade B: Renuka Singh, Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh, Shafali Verma
  • Grade C: Yastika Bhatia, Radha Yadav, Shreyanka Patil, Titas Sadhu, Arundhati Reddy, Amanjot Kaur, Uma Chetry, Sneh Rana, Pooja Vastrakar

Renuka Singh, Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh, and Shafali Verma continue to hold their spots in Grade B. Meanwhile, Yastika Bhatia, Radha Yadav, Sneh Rana, and Pooja Vastrakar, who were part of the 2022-23 central contracts, have been placed in Grade C.

Notable exclusions include Rajeshwari Gayakwad (previously Grade B) and Grade C players Meghna Singh, Devika Vaidya, Sabbineni Meghana, Anjali Sarvani, and Harleen Deol, who didn’t make the cut this time.

The list welcomes fresh talent, with Shreyanka Patil, Titas Sadhu, Arundhati Reddy, Amanjot Kaur, and Uma Chetry earning their maiden central contracts in Grade C.

Upcoming Challenges

India’s next assignment is an ODI tri-nation series against Sri Lanka and South Africa, scheduled to begin on April 27 in Sri Lanka. The team, runners-up in the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25, is also preparing to host the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 later this year on home soil, aiming to make a strong mark on the global stage.
