Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the promotions are aimed at addressing manpower shortages, enhancing administrative efficiency, and ensuring more effective management of prisons across the state. He congratulated the officers and reminded them that higher rank brings greater responsibility and decision-making powers, which must be used to strengthen security, maintain discipline, and improve inmate welfare.

“These promotions are a recognition of merit, dedication and professionalism. They will motivate the entire force to uphold the highest standards of duty and integrity,” Bhullar added. He assured that the rich experience of these officers will help transform Punjab’s correctional system into a more transparent, efficient and reform-oriented mechanism.

The Minister also reiterated the Punjab Government’s firm commitment to modernising jail infrastructure and introducing comprehensive educational, vocational training and welfare programmes for prisoners.

Additional Director General of Police (Prisons) Arun Pal Singh congratulated the promoted officers and underlined the vital role every member of the department plays in its smooth functioning.

Principal Secretary, Department of Jails, Ms. Bhavna Garg also extended her best wishes to the newly promoted officers on the occasion.
