Known as “Big George,” Foreman first rose to prominence at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, where he captured gold in the heavyweight division. He turned professional and claimed the undisputed heavyweight title in 1973 by defeating Joe Frazier. Despite a historic loss to Muhammad Ali in the legendary “Rumble in the Jungle,” Foreman made an astonishing comeback at age 45, reclaiming the heavyweight crown in 1994 by defeating Michael Moorer.

His passing sparked an outpouring of tributes from sports icons like Billie Jean King, Magic Johnson, and Mike Tyson. NBA legend Scottie Pippen honored him on X, writing, “Your legacy lives on, champ.”

Foreman retired in 1997 with 76 wins, including 68 by knockout, leaving an indelible mark on boxing history.
