Chandigarh, July 12 ()Desk)

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant  Mann on Saturday strongly endorsed the establishment of the Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh Cricket League, aimed at cultivating world-class cricketers from Punjab’s grassroots.

During a meeting with the newly constituted Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) at his official residence on Saturday evening, the Chief Minister outlined his vision for the league, emphasizing that it should host matches at village, block, district, and state levels to identify and foster emerging talent. Drawing inspiration from the state’s annual Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan, which provides a platform for budding athletes, Mann envisioned the cricket league as a transformative initiative to unearth hidden potential and boost the sport’s growth across Punjab.

Highlighting the state’s rich cricketing legacy, the Chief Minister cited players like Harbhajan Singh (MP), Shubman Gill, and Arshdeep Singh, who have brought glory to India with their exceptional performances. He stressed that with a structured platform, many more talented cricketers from Punjab could rise to prominence. Mann assured the PCA of the state government’s unwavering support in this ambitious endeavor.
