In a meeting with British Deputy High Commissioner Caroline Rowett at his official residence, Mann emphasized the longstanding ties between Punjab and the UK, particularly the significant contributions of the Punjabi diaspora to the UK economy. He advocated for more robust and comprehensive agreements in these sectors and proposed establishing a structured communication framework between the Punjab Government and the UK to facilitate knowledge exchange and foster mutual growth and prosperity.
The Chief Minister highlighted the immense potential for collaboration, stating that regular and direct communication in these areas would benefit both sides. He also raised concerns about the exploitation of youth by unethical visa agents who use false promises and illegal methods, causing financial and emotional distress to families. Mann sought the British High Commission’s support to curb this issue through a joint strategy, including raising awareness about legitimate visa channels.
