Plans to Invest in Food Processing and Plastic Waste Recycling
–Offers Expertise in Cleaning Buddah Nullah
Chandigarh, September 7
In a significant move to boost investment in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced on Saturday that Canada’s Nebula Group has shown strong interest in investing in the state.
During discussions with Nebula Group President and Chairman Raman Khatra, the Chief Minister expressed pride in the group’s plans to establish a food processing plant. This facility will source tomatoes, citrus fruits, juices, and potatoes from 10,000 hectares of surrounding farmland, extending the shelf life of frozen and fresh produce through ozone technology. The company aims to export perishable goods by using this method. Mann emphasized that the initiative, in collaboration with Markfed and Punjab Agro, will benefit farmers significantly, with the plant being set up near Doraha, providing jobs to local youth.

Additionally, Nebula Group will lend its expertise to clean the polluted Budha Nullah in Ludhiana. The company plans to use its advanced technology to eliminate cancer-causing impurities in the water, utilizing ozone technology at the nano level. The goal is to reduce the TDS level of the water to below 100, making it safe for drinking.
The company also agreed to establish a plant for recycling plastic waste, particularly bottles, into pellets, a step that will address Punjab’s plastic waste issues and contribute to a cleaner environment.
Highlighting the state’s appeal to global investors, CM Mann described Punjab as a prime destination for investment, with an industrial-friendly government and a genuine single-window system for ease of business. He assured Nebula Group and other potential investors that Punjab offers communal harmony, industrial peace, and a conducive atmosphere for growth, driving the state’s overall development and prosperity.
