Congress Unveils First List for Haryana Elections: Hooda from Garhi Sampla Kiloi, Vinesh Phogat from Julana

The Congress party has announced its first list of 31 candidates for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, scheduled for October 5. Among the prominent names, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda will contest from his stronghold, Garhi Sampla Kiloi, while wrestler-turned-politician Vinesh Phogat is set to run from Julana.
The announcement was made after a meeting of the Central Election Committee (CEC) at the AICC headquarters in Delhi, chaired by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Party stalwarts Sonia Gandhi, KC Venugopal, and other senior Congress leaders like Ajay Maken and Salman Khurshid were present during the deliberations.
In addition to Hooda and Phogat, Haryana Congress President Udai Bhan will run from Hodal. Meanwhile, in Ladwa, Mewa Singh is expected to face off against current Chief Minister Nayab Saini, who is representing the BJP.

Wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia, who recently joined the Congress, have been entrusted with key responsibilities in the party. While Phogat will contest from Julana, Punia has been appointed the working chairman of the All India Kisan Congress.
The Congress party is also exploring alliances with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and other INDIA bloc members, including the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Samajwadi Party, for a potential coalition ahead of the elections.
