Cadet Deepit Sharma from the 7th Course of the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (MRSAFPI) has brought pride to the institute by being commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army’s prestigious Kumaon Regiment, one of the oldest infantry regiments, during the Officers’ Training Academy (OTA) passing out parade in Chennai on Saturday. The parade was reviewed by Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, PVSM, AVSM.

Hailing from Pathankot district, Lieutenant Deepit Sharma has followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a second-generation Army officer. In a moment of immense pride for his family, he has been commissioned into the same unit of the Kumaon Regiment where his father currently serves.

Punjab’s Employment Generation, Skill Development, and Training Minister, Aman Arora, extended heartfelt congratulations to Lieutenant Deepit Sharma, wishing him a illustrious career in service to the nation. He highlighted that with Sharma’s commissioning, the total number of MRSAFPI cadets commissioned as officers has now reached 179.

Major General Ajay H. Chauhan, VSM (Retd), Director of MRSAFPI, also congratulated Lieutenant Sharma on his achievement, expressing immense pride in the cadet’s success. He further noted that the current batch of cadets is preparing to appear for the UPSC NDA (II) written examination on September 14, 2025, marking a significant step in their journey to becoming officers.
