Given the sensitivity of the border district of Tarn Taran, where a bye-election for the Tarn Taran Assembly Constituency is scheduled for November 11, 2025, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has implemented stringent security arrangements through the district election machinery, finalized in consultation with ECI-appointed observers.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sibin C announced the deployment of 12 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), marking the largest CAPF deployment for any bye-election conducted by the ECI. All 114 polling station locations, encompassing 222 polling stations, will be secured by CAPF. Additionally, CCTV cameras with webcasting will monitor all polling stations, with oversight at the Returning Officer, District Election Officer, and CEO levels, under the ECI’s supervision. A total of 46 micro-observers will be stationed at critical polling stations to ensure thorough monitoring.
The CEO confirmed that all 222 polling stations are equipped with assured minimum facilities. He emphasized that any breach of law and order will be dealt with firmly by the election machinery. Sibin C urged voters of the Tarn Taran Assembly Constituency to participate fearlessly in the polling process, scheduled from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM on November 11, 2025.
