Evacuation Update: 23,015 People Seeking Shelter

-Flood Impact Update: Three Additional Human Lives Lost, Affected Population Surpasses 3.87 Lakh

-Crop Damage Exceeds 1.84 Lakh Hectares

The ongoing flood crisis continues to affect multiple districts in Punjab, with recent updates showing a rise in both human and agricultural losses, according to Hardeep Mundian, Punjab’s Minister for Revenue, Rehabilitation, and Disaster Management. District reports indicate that over 3.87 lakh people across 15 districts have been impacted. Additionally, the death toll has risen to 51, with three more fatalities reported in the last 24 hours in Mansa, Moga, and Patiala districts.

Detailing the extent of crop and infrastructure damage,  Mundian noted that crop losses have reached 1,84,938.05 hectares. Assessments of damage to homes and livestock are ongoing, with a comprehensive report expected once floodwaters recede.

On the evacuation front, S. Mundian reported that an additional 77 people were evacuated in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 23,015 individuals safely relocated. Currently, 123 relief camps are operational, providing shelter to 5,416 people and facilitating the successful rehabilitation and resettlement of many affected families.

Mitigation efforts are in full force, with the Indian Army deploying approximately 30 helicopters for rescue and relief operations. Teams from the Border Security Force (BSF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are providing ground support. Essential relief materials, including dry rations, drinking water, medicines, and other supplies, are being distributed round-the-clock to flood-affected areas.

Providing district-wise details, the Minister stated that in Amritsar, 196 villages remain flooded, affecting 1,36,105 people, with 7 deaths reported. A total of 3,260 individuals have been evacuated, and 16 relief camps are operational, with crop losses recorded over 27,154 hectares. In Barnala, 121 villages are affected, impacting 1,343 people, with 5 deaths reported. A total of 630 people have been evacuated, and 46 relief camps are functioning, though no crop damage has been reported.

In Bathinda, 21 villages are inundated, with no direct population impact but 4 deaths reported. Crop damage spans 586.79 hectares. In Faridkot, 15 villages are affected. In Fazilka, 86 villages are flooded, impacting 25,037 people, with 2 deaths reported. A total of 4,235 individuals have been evacuated, 14 relief camps are operational, and crop losses cover 19,036 hectares.

In Ferozepur, 108 villages are affected, impacting 38,614 people, with 2 deaths reported. A total of 3,948 people have been evacuated, and crop damage is assessed at 17,257 hectares. In Gurdaspur, 329 villages are impacted, affecting 1,45,000 people, with 2 deaths reported. Evacuations total 5,581, with 13 relief camps operational, and crop losses are the highest in the state at 40,169 hectares.

In Hoshiarpur, 208 villages are affected, impacting 2,760 people, with 7 deaths reported. A total of 1,616 individuals have been evacuated, 4 relief camps are operational, and crop damage spans 8,322 hectares. In Jalandhar, 93 villages are affected, impacting 1,970 people, with no reported deaths. A total of 511 individuals have been evacuated, 18 relief camps are operational, and crop damage covers 4,800 hectares.

In Kapurthala, 145 villages are affected, impacting 5,728 people, with 1,428 evacuations and crop damage recorded over 17,574 hectares. In Ludhiana, 85 villages are affected, with 4 deaths reported. One relief camp is sheltering 47 people, and crop damage spans 72 hectares. In Malerkotla, 12 villages are flooded. In Mansa, 95 villages are affected, impacting 178 people, with 4 deaths reported. A total of 178 individuals have been evacuated, 2 relief camps are operational, and crop damage covers 12,207 hectares. In Moga, 52 villages are affected, impacting 800 people, with 1 death reported. A total of 155 individuals have been evacuated, 3 relief camps are operational, and crop damage spans 2,240 hectares.

In Pathankot, 88 villages are affected, impacting 15,503 people, with 6 deaths reported. Evacuations total 1,139, with 1 relief camp operational, and crop damage covers 2,442 hectares. In Patiala, 109 villages are affected, with 2 deaths reported and crop damage spanning 10,420 hectares. In Rupnagar, 58 villages are affected, impacting 778 people, with 2 deaths reported. Evacuations total 313, with 4 relief camps operational, and crop damage covers 1,080 hectares.

In S.A.S. Nagar, 15 villages are affected, impacting 14,000 people, with 2 deaths reported and crop damage spanning 2,000 hectares. In Sangrur, 107 villages are affected, impacting 83 people, with 1 death reported. One relief camp is operational, and crop damage covers 6,560 hectares. In S.B.S. Nagar, 28 villages are affected, with crop damage spanning 188 hectares. In Sri Muktsar Sahib, 23 villages are affected. In Tarn Taran, 70 villages are affected, impacting 60 people, with 21 evacuations and crop damage covering 12,828 hectares.
