Chandigarh, November 7 (Sports Desk)
The National Gatka Association of India (NGAI), affiliated with the World Gatka Federation (WGF), will host the 2nd Federation Gatka Cup–2025 at Bengaluru City University, Karnataka, from November 7 to 9. The event will bring together top young Gatka warriors from across India for an electrifying display of this traditional Sikh martial art.
Advocate Harjeet Singh Grewal, NGAI President, and Sukhchain Singh Kalsani, Vice President of the International Sikh Martial Art Council, announced that teams from ten states will compete in the under-19 category in Gatka Soti and Farrie Soti events, both individual and team formats. These competitions will highlight the skill, discipline, and courage embedded in Gatka’s heritage. “Held under the World Gatka Federation and Asian Gatka Federation, the event will coincide with the 2nd National Cultural Pythian Games, celebrating India’s rich martial and cultural traditions,” they stated.
Grewal and Kalsani emphasized that the 2nd Federation Gatka Cup will spotlight emerging Gatka talent, with gold medallists earning a spot to represent India at the inaugural International Pythian Cultural Games in 2026, a significant milestone for Gatka’s global recognition.
Grewal highlighted NGAI’s affiliation with WGF and AGF, which has elevated Gatka to international platforms, including events like the National Cultural Pythian Games, Khelo India Youth Games, National Games, All India Inter-University Tournament, and National School Games.
