England’s rising star, Gus Atkinson, has been crowned the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for July 2024. The young seamer’s exceptional performance in the West Indies Test series propelled him to the top of the award contenders, beating out stiff competition from India’s Washington Sundar and Scotland’s Charlie Cassell.
Making a dream Test debut in James Anderson’s farewell match, Atkinson’s heroics were nothing short of spectacular. He claimed a staggering 12 wickets in the first Test, including two five-wicket hauls. His match-winning figures of 7/45 in the first innings dismantled the West Indies for a paltry 121.
