Criticizes Past Governments for Neglecting Youth Employment
Assures Ample Funds for State’s Holistic Development
Chandigarh, June 21, 2025
On Saturday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann advanced his mission to youth empowerment by finalizing the distribution of appointment letters to 54,422 individuals, including 281 new recruits, for government jobs.
“Today, I am proud to hand over job letters to 281 young candidates, reflecting our government’s dedication to transparent and fair recruitment,” Mann declared during the event.
Addressing the audience, the Chief Minister condemned the corrupt policies of previous administrations, which he said had jeopardized the future of Punjab’s youth. He accused past governments of delaying job opportunities due to their apathy toward employment generation, betraying the state’s people. Mann pointed out that while political leaders’ families thrived, they systematically undermined the careers of ordinary youth.
In contrast, Mann highlighted that since April 1, 2022, his government has recruited 54,141 candidates across various departments, with the latest batch bringing the total to 54,422. Terming it a historic day—coinciding with the longest day of the year—he emphasized that these jobs were secured through merit and hard work. He assured the recruits that more opportunities would follow.
Mann accused traditional politicians of secretly colluding for personal gain while staging public rivalries. “These leaders trade barbs on stage but celebrate together privately, exposing their duplicity,” he said, noting that villagers bear the brunt of political divides while leaders revel in unity at private events.
Reiterating that all recruitments were merit-based, with candidates clearing competitive exams, Mann underscored his government’s focus on empowering youth to drive Punjab’s socio-economic progress. He urged the new employees to serve with dedication, viewing them as vital cogs in the governance machinery.

Expressing hope that the recruits would uplift the underprivileged, Mann likened the government’s role to an airport runway, enabling youth to soar toward their dreams. He encouraged them to forge their identities, stay rooted in Punjab, and seize the state’s abundant opportunities. “The sky is the limit, but hard work is the key,” he said.
In a significant announcement, Mann revealed plans to establish UPSC coaching centers across Punjab, equipped with libraries, hostels, and top-tier facilities to prepare youth for national competitive exams. He emphasized that these initiatives would position Punjab’s youth for success on a national stage.
Criticizing past regimes for plundering the state through cyclic power shifts, Mann said the public has entrusted his government to deliver. He dismissed opposition criticism as jealousy over his pro-people policies and vowed to ensure dignified salaries for state employees. Reflecting on past inadequacies, he noted that some teachers once earned just ₹6,000—less than MGNREGA wages—and pledged fair compensation for all government workers.
Mann refuted claims of an empty treasury, a narrative peddled by previous administrations, and affirmed that every penny is now being invested in Punjab’s growth and welfare. “Unlike a former Finance Minister who repeatedly cited a hollow exchequer, we are fueling development with public funds,” he concluded.
