India completed a dominant 3-0 series sweep against England with a comprehensive 142-run victory in the third ODI at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Chasing a target of 357, England were bowled out for 214 in 34.2 overs.

Shubman Gill was the star of the show for India, scoring a magnificent century after England elected to field first. Gill, who has been in exceptional form throughout the series, finally converted his strong starts into a hundred, reaching the milestone off 95 balls before being dismissed for 112 (102 balls) by Adil Rashid. He formed two crucial century partnerships, adding 116 runs with Virat Kohli (52 off 55 balls) for the second wicket, and then another 104 runs with Shreyas Iyer (78 off 64 balls) for the third. Kohli and Iyer also fell to Rashid, who took four wickets and provided England with some much-needed breakthroughs. India captain Rohit Sharma, who scored a match-winning century in the previous match, was dismissed cheaply for 1 by Mark Wood.

England’s response began explosively, with Phil Salt and Ben Duckett putting on a quickfire 60-run opening stand. However, Arshdeep Singh removed both Duckett (34 off 22 balls) and Salt (23 off 21 balls in quick succession. Tom Banton and Joe Root then added 46 runs before falling to Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel, respectively. England captain Jos Buttler’s struggles continued as he was bowled for 6 by Harshit Rana, who then dismissed Harry Brook for 19 in his next over.
