India thrashes Bangladesh by 280 runs, match ends on Day 4

Patiala, September 22 (Sports Desk):

The first Test match between India and Bangladesh, being played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, concluded on the fourth day. India defeated Bangladesh by a resounding 280 runs. Bangladesh could only manage 234 runs in their second innings. India’s star bowler R Ashwin claimed six wickets, sending six Bangladeshi batsmen back to the pavilion and leading his team to a memorable victory.

At the end of the third day, Bangladesh had lost four wickets while chasing a target of 357 runs. R Ashwin was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant century and outstanding bowling performance.

Resuming on the fourth day, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto scored a brilliant 82 and Shakib Al Hasan made 25 runs before being dismissed. After their dismissals, the Bangladeshi innings collapsed rapidly. Liton Das made 1, Mehidy Hasan scored 8, Taskin Ahmed contributed 5, and Hasan Mahmud added 7 runs. Nahiid Rana remained unbeaten on zero.

For India, Jasprit Bumrah took one wicket for 24 runs, R Ashwin claimed six wickets for 88 runs, and Ravindra Jadeja picked up three wickets for 58 runs.
