India’s Young Guns Set to Shine at World Boxing Cup Brazil 2025: Full Schedule and Where to Watch Live in India

Patiala, 31 March (Sports Desk)

A youthful and dynamic 10-member Indian boxing contingent, all men, is ready to take on the world at the inaugural World Boxing Cup Brazil 2025. The tournament kicks off on Monday in the scenic city of Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, and Indian fans won’t want to miss a moment of the action, available exclusively via live streaming. Here’s everything you need to know about the event, the Indian squad, the schedule, and how to watch it live from India.

Tournament Overview

The World Boxing Cup Brazil 2025 is set to be a global spectacle, featuring over 130 boxers—including Olympians—from 19 countries: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chinese Taipei, France, England, Germany, Guatemala, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Norway, Panama, Poland, Switzerland, Sweden, USA, Uzbekistan, and Wales. Hosted at the Rafain Palace Hotel & Convention, the competition will showcase both men’s and women’s categories. However, India will only be represented in the 10 men’s weight divisions.

This tournament is the first of three World Boxing Cups scheduled for 2025, with Kazakhstan and India hosting the subsequent events in June-July and November, respectively. These meets offer ranking points, and the top performers will qualify for the prestigious season-ending World Boxing Cup Finals.

India’s Squad: A Blend of Talent and Promise

India’s all-male contingent is a mix of fresh faces and rising stars, led by head coach Dharmendra Singh Yadav. Here’s the full lineup:

  • Jadumani Singh Mandengbam (50kg)
  • Manish Rathore (55kg)
  • Sachin (60kg)
  • Abhinash Jamwal (65kg)
  • Hitesh (70kg)
  • Nikhil Dubey (75kg)
  • Lakshya Chahar (80kg)
  • Jugnoo (85kg)
  • Vishal (90kg)
  • Narender (90+kg)

Nine of the 10 boxers earned their spots by winning their respective weight classes at the men’s national championships in Bareilly this January. The exception is Jugnoo (85kg), who lost to Sumit in the national final but was selected due to the champion’s unavailability.

The standout name in the squad is Narender, an Asian Games bronze medallist, bringing experience and recognition to this youthful team. Unfortunately, India won’t field any women’s boxers, as the women’s national championships—delayed multiple times—concluded in Greater Noida just this week, leaving no time to prepare a women’s contingent.

For these young pugilists, the Brazil event is a chance to gain international exposure, climb the rankings, and potentially secure a path to the Paris 2024 Olympics.
