As the 13th edition of the 50-over Women’s Cricket World Cup approaches in India later this year, the recently concluded Women’s Premier League (WPL) served as a dazzling stage for the world’s top white-ball cricketers to display their skills. International talent dominated the tournament, with standout performances lighting up the competition.
The Mumbai Indians clinched their second WPL title, edging out the Delhi Capitals by a thrilling eight runs in the final. India’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, steered her team to victory as skipper, finishing among the tournament’s top run-scorers with 302 runs. However, it was England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt, also of Mumbai Indians, who stole the show, topping the charts with an impressive 523 runs at an average of 65.37. Her consistency shone through with five half-centuries, including a best of 80* against Delhi early in the campaign.

Australia’s Ellyse Perry also made her mark, finishing as the second-highest run-scorer with 372 runs, highlighted by a superb unbeaten 90* against UP Warriorz. Fellow Australians Meg Lanning (276 runs) and Ash Gardner (243 runs) joined West Indies’ Hayley Matthews (307 runs) in notching three fifty-plus scores each.
