Mumbai/Patiala, 13 MAy (Shahi)
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on May 12, 2025, that the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will resume on May 17 after a week-long suspension due to India-Pakistan border tensions. A ceasefire on May 10 paved the way for the tournament’s continuation, with 17 matches scheduled across six venues—Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad—culminating in the final on June 3. The revised schedule includes two double-headers on Sundays.
The IPL was halted on May 8 when the Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala was abandoned mid-game due to security concerns. This match will be replayed in Jaipur on May 24. The season restarts with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) facing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Playoff venues will be announced later.

Context and Venues
Matches in sensitive zones like Dharamsala and Mohali have been reassigned to safer venues to prioritize player and fan safety. Ahmedabad will host three matches, Bengaluru and Lucknow two each, and Delhi, Jaipur, and Mumbai one each. The BCCI, after consultations with government and security agencies, opted for these six cities to ensure a secure environment.
This marks the second mid-season suspension in IPL history, following the 2021 COVID-19 disruption, which was completed in the UAE. With enhanced safety measures, the BCCI aims to deliver a thrilling conclusion to IPL 2025.
