Jyothi Yarraji and Tejas Shirse both won gold medals and set new meet records in the 100m and 110m hurdles, respectively, at the National Games 2025 in Dehradun on Sunday. Yarraji’s victory marks her third consecutive National Games gold in the event.
Yarraji clocked 13.10 seconds in the women’s 100m hurdles final at the Maharana Pratap Sports College’s Ganga Athletics Ground, breaking her own previous meet record. She expressed satisfaction with the win but noted a poor start, hoping for a sub-13-second time. Earlier in the heats, she had already broken her 2023 record of 13.22 seconds with a 13.20-second run. Yarraji is the reigning Asian athletics champion in this event and a Hangzhou Asian Games silver medalist. Moumita Mondal of West Bengal won silver (13.36 seconds), and Nithya Ramraj of Tamil Nadu took bronze (13.60 seconds).

Tejas Shirse of Maharashtra mirrored Yarraji’s achievement in the men’s 110m hurdles, also completing a National Games hat-trick with a meet-record time of 13.65 seconds.
In the women’s javelin throw, Jyoti Rakesh of Haryana clinched gold with a best throw of 55.55m. Karishma Sanil of Karnataka also threw 55.55m, but Rakesh won the gold based on her superior second-best throw (55.43m compared to Sanil’s 54.80m). Ramyashree Jain of Karnataka won bronze (54.85m).
In the men’s 400m, Bapi Hansda of Odisha set a personal best of 46.82 seconds to win gold, edging out Vikrant Panchal of Haryana (46.92s) and Manu TS of Kerala (47.08s).

Aishwarya Mishra of Maharashtra dominated the women’s 400m, winning gold in 51.12 seconds. Vithya Ramraj of Tamil Nadu (54.43s) and Devyaniba Zala of Gujarat (54.44s) completed the podium.
The National Games 2025, which began on January 28, will conclude on February 14.
