The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) marked a historic milestone as Kundan Gogia was unanimously elected as the Mayor of Patiala Municipal Corporation. Alongside him, Harinder Kohli was elected as Senior Deputy Mayor, and Jagdeep Jagga as Deputy Mayor. This achievement underscores AAP’s growing influence and commitment to transformative governance in Punjab.
AAP Punjab President Aman Arora, joined by Punjab Cabinet Ministers Dr. Balbir Singh, Barinder Goyal, MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, and newly elected councillors, congratulated the new office bearers during a press interaction.

Speaking on the occasion, Aman Arora described the election as a pivotal moment for Patiala, stating, “This marks the beginning of a new chapter in Patiala’s development journey. Under the leadership of Kundan Gogia, the city will witness unparalleled progress and transformation.”
He emphasized that the unanimous election of all three office bearers reflects the unity, dedication, and focus of AAP’s councillors on delivering transparent and effective governance. Arora added, “AAP has always recognized the potential of grassroots volunteers. The appointment of Kundan Gogia, a dedicated party worker, as Mayor demonstrates our commitment to empowering those who truly serve the people.”
In the recent municipal elections, AAP secured a sweeping victory in Patiala, winning 43 out of 53 seats in the Municipal Corporation. Across Punjab, the party won 522 out of 977 wards, setting a new benchmark for local body elections. Opposition parties—Congress, BJP, and SAD—managed to secure only 30% of the wards, while independent candidates accounted for about 15%.
Aman Arora also highlighted that in the elections held yesterday, AAP candidates were elected as President, Senior Vice President, and Vice President in eight municipal councils, including Cheema, Mallanwala, Narot Jaimal Singh, Ghanaur, Ghagga, Sanaur, Devi Garh, and Makhu.
Reiterating AAP’s commitment to its promises, Arora outlined the five guarantees for Patiala’s development, which include:
- 24/7 access to clean drinking water.
- Reduction in pollution and improvements in public transport.
- Development of state-of-the-art parking facilities.
- Modern waste management systems.
- Revamping urban infrastructure and roads.
Arora assured the public that these initiatives would commence immediately, with the full backing of the Punjab government.
He stated, “The responsibility of Patiala’s development is now in trusted hands. Under the leadership of Mayor Kundan Gogia, supported by Harinder Kohli and Jagdeep Jagga, the city will experience unprecedented growth and holistic development.”
