Patiala, October 17
Multani Mal Modi College in Patiala conducted a Blood Donation Camp in partnership with Government Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, along with the college’s NSS, NCC wings, and Red Ribbon Club. The event aimed to promote the noble cause of ‘Khoondaan – Mahadaan’ (Blood Donation – A Great Gift) and address the rising demand for blood units amid an increase in dengue cases. A total of 48 units of blood were successfully collected during the camp.
The medical team, headed by Dr. Mariyada and Mr. Sukhwinder Singh, along with their support staff, efficiently managed the proceedings. The NSS team, under the leadership of Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, Dr. Devinder Singh, and Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, played a pivotal role in organizing the event. Similarly, the NCC team, led by Flying Officer Dr. Sumeet Kumar, Dr. Rohit Sachdeva, and Dr. Nidhi Rani Gupta, actively encouraged students to participate and contribute.

Among the donors, faculty members including Dr. Sumeet Kumar, Dr. Rohit Sachdeva, Dr. Devinder Singh, and Prof. Harpreet Singh stepped forward. Non-teaching staff such as Tarlochan Singh, Deepak Prasad, and Bunty also generously donated blood.
In conjunction with the camp, the Departments of Computer Science, English, Hindi, and Punjabi jointly organized an Essay Writing Competition. Students from various departments and streams actively participated, sharing their views on topics such as: ‘AI in Education: Enhancing Human Potential or Hindering Independent Thought?’, ‘India’s Climate Dilemma: Can Growth and Sustainability Co-Exist?’, ‘Land Pooling Policy in Punjab: Pathway to Progress or Policy Pitfall?’, ‘Reviving Indian Languages: Preserving Identity or Embracing Global Relevance?’, and ‘Trade Barriers and India: Penalty or Push Towards Atmanirbhar Bharat?’. The competition was held in English, Punjabi, and Hindi.
Yashika Sharma and Jashan Sharma from BA Part-1 clinched the first position, while Muskan from B.Com-II secured second place. Third prize went to Sanjana from BSc Part-II. The event was coordinated by Dr. Harmohan Sharma, Dean of Co-curricular Activities, along with Dr. Vaneet Kaur, Dr. Veerpal Kaur, and Dr. Rupinder Sharma.
The college management expressed sincere gratitude to all donors, the medical team, and the organizers for their selfless efforts in making the initiatives a success.
