These FIRs have been registered under Section 21 (1) and 4 (1) of the Mines and Minerals Development Rules, 1957 , signaling the government’s firm stance against illegal mining operations.
The Education Minister also issued a series of strict directives to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rupnagar to combat the rampant issue of illegal mining. Among these measures is the immediate installation of high-resolution night vision CCTV cameras on critical routes, pathways, and hotspot areas used for transporting mining materials or conducting illegal activities. The Cabinet Minister has set a strict deadline of 15 days for the implementation of this initiative.
Stringent Measures Against Illegal Mining
To ensure accountability and transparency, Harjot Singh Bains has ordered comprehensive raids on all crushers operating in the district. Officials have been instructed to meticulously scrutinize their records for any irregularities.
