Patiala, 10 January (Sprts Desk)

The ICC Women’s Player of the Month nominees for December 2025 have been announced, featuring three outstanding performers who lit up the international stage following the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.

Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa)

South Africa’s captain carried her exceptional World Cup form into December, delivering a masterclass across formats during the whitewash series against Ireland (3-0 in ODIs and 2-0 in T20Is).

She smashed three centuries in total, showcasing sublime batting. In the opening T20I, Wolvaardt unleashed an explosive unbeaten 115 (strike rate 205.35, with 15 fours and four sixes). She then dominated the ODIs, scoring 31 in the first, followed by a fluent 124 off 111 balls and an unbeaten 100 in the third to seal the series.

Across the three ODIs, she amassed 255 runs at an average of 127.5 and strike rate of 111.84. In the T20Is, she added 137 runs at a rapid strike rate of 190.27 (dismissed just once).

Shafali Verma (India)

India’s explosive opener set the tone in a commanding 5-0 T20I series sweep over Sri Lanka, providing blazing starts and match-winning knocks throughout.

After a steady start in the first game, Verma hit top gear: an unbeaten 69 in the second, another unbeaten 79 in the third (chase wrapped up inside 14 overs), and a destructive 79 off 46 balls in the fourth — part of a record-breaking partnership with Smriti Mandhana that powered India to their highest-ever women’s T20I total of 221.

She finished with 241 runs across five matches at an average of 80.33 and a breathtaking strike rate of 181.20, earning Player of the Series honors.

Sune Luus (South Africa)

The Proteas all-rounder was instrumental in the same series whitewashes against Ireland, excelling with both bat and ball.

In the T20Is, she opened with a superb 81 and took four wickets in the first game, then added 37 in the second. In the ODIs, she top-scored with an unbeaten 66 in the first chase (plus a wicket) and smashed her second ODI century — a commanding 114 off 113 balls — in the second.

Overall: 205 runs in two ODIs (average 102.5, strike rate 98.55) + four wickets (economy 4.97); plus 118 runs in T20Is (strike rate 157.33) + four wickets (economy 6.42). A true all-round star!

The winner of the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for December 2025 will be revealed soon, decided by votes from the ICC Voting Academy and fans worldwide. All three nominees had phenomenal months — who do you think deserves the award?
