Two-time Olympic medalist Indian badminton player PV Sindhu began her campaign in the women’s singles event at the Paris Olympics on Sunday with an easy win over Maldives’ Fathmath Abdul Razzaq in a Group M match.
The difference between Sindhu, who is aiming for a third consecutive Olympic medal, and Fathmath was evident. The Indian player defeated her lower-ranked opponent 21-9, 21-6 in straight games in just 29 minutes.

The 10th seeded Sindhu, who won silver at the Rio Olympics 2016 and bronze at the Tokyo Olympics, will face Estonia’s Kristin Kuuba, ranked 75th in the world, in her second group match on Wednesday.
