PPIS 2026: GCC & CIS Boost Punjab’s Global Trade Relations

-Gulf and CIS nations see Punjab as key manufacturing, agri-tech, IT and education hub Ambassadors invite Punjab delegations, offer export gateways and technology collaborations

Chandigarh/New Delhi, 28 November

In a major step towards positioning Punjab on the global investment map, the Punjab Government today held high-impact diplomatic roundtables in New Delhi with Ambassadors from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries as part of the countdown to the 6th Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit (PPIS) 2026.

The back-to-back meetings were chaired by Cabinet Minister for Industries & Commerce, Investment Promotion, Power and NRI Affairs, Mr. Sanjeev Arora, and saw enthusiastic participation from Ambassadors of Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain (GCC) and Kazakhstan, Russia, Armenia, and Belarus (CIS), along with senior officials from the Ministry of External Affairs and Invest Punjab.

A powerful “Advantage Punjab” presentation highlighted the state’s industrial resurgence, investor-friendly policies, cutting-edge infrastructure, skilled workforce, and new-age opportunities in agri-tech, food processing, IT-ITeS, healthcare, renewables, and manufacturing.

Key Highlights from GCC Roundtable GCC diplomats described Punjab as a “natural partner” for their economic diversification goals and offered their world-class ports and logistics networks as export gateways to Africa, Europe, and the Americas. They praised Punjab’s single-window FastTrack system (now India’s most advanced) and the Right to Business Act.

Key Highlights from CIS Roundtable

  • Kazakhstan: Identified education, tourism, culture, and agricultural exports as immediate collaboration areas.
  • Russia: Flagged huge potential in rice and tomato exports, railways, petrochemicals, fintech, AI, aerospace, and banking; welcomed Punjab’s participation in the upcoming Russia–India National Collaboration Forum.
  • Armenia: Expressed keen interest in agri-tech, dairy, IT services, renewable energy, and student exchanges.
  • Belarus: Extended formal invitation to Punjab industry for its June 2026 International Agricultural Exhibition and offered partnerships in farm machinery and agricultural education.

Minister Sanjeev Arora extended a formal invitation to all Ambassadors and their business delegations to attend PPIS 2026 (March 2026) and announced that dedicated country desks for GCC and CIS nations are being set up at Invest Punjab for seamless follow-up.

He also personally invited the diplomats to visit Punjab to experience its heritage, universities, industrial parks, and startup ecosystem first-hand, assuring time-bound clearances and world-class facilitation.

A senior Ministry of External Affairs official lauded Punjab’s “structured, region-specific outreach” as a model for other states and a significant contribution to India’s economic diplomacy.

The Ambassadors unanimously praised Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann for pioneering direct state-level diplomatic engagement and committed to mobilising top business delegations from their countries for PPIS 2026.

Both sides agreed to maintain regular coordination through Invest Punjab and the respective embassies to translate today’s discussions into concrete investments, trade deals, and long-term partnerships well before the Summit.
