Punjab Government Introduces UPI for Punjab State Cooperative Bank Customers

Chandigarh, September 30:

The Punjab government has taken a significant step towards modernizing cooperative banking by introducing the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) for customers of the Punjab State Cooperative Bank.*

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced the initiative, stating that it aims to promote digital transactions and enhance transparency in the cooperative sector. The UPI service has been initially implemented in 18 branches of the apex bank.*

Customers can now use popular mobile apps like Google Pay, WhatsApp, PhonePay, PayTM, BHIM, and others to send and receive money from their Punjab State Cooperative Bank accounts. The daily transaction limit is currently set at ₹50,000 but is expected to increase to ₹100,000 soon.*

The Chief Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to strengthening the cooperative sector and ensuring its growth. Jagdev Singh Bam, Chairman of the Punjab State Cooperative Bank, expressed optimism about the positive impact of UPI on customer convenience and satisfaction.*

The bank plans to gradually extend the UPI service to its other branches in the near future. In addition to UPI, the bank already offers mobile banking services for IMPS and RTGS transactions.*
