Punjab Police Arrests 2,575 Drug Smugglers in 17 Days; Seizes 95 kg Heroin, ₹64 Lakh in Cash

In a massive crackdown under the anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, Punjab Police has arrested 2,575 drug smugglers and registered 1,651 FIRs across the state since March 1, 2025. The drive, spearheaded by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has led to the recovery of 95 kg of heroin, 52 kg of opium, ₹64 lakh in drug money, and over 7.25 lakh illicit pills, dealing a significant blow to cross-border narcotics networks.

DGP’s Statement

We will not tolerate attempts to disrupt Punjab’s peace,” he stated, referencing the recent neutralization of suspects in the Amritsar temple attack.
