Chandigarh, December 15,
In its continued fight against corruption across the state, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) arrested 9 government officials and 2 private individuals red-handed while accepting bribes in 8 separate trap operations during November.
A VB spokesperson highlighted the bureau’s committed efforts to root out corruption among public servants and others in all sectors.
During the month, the VB filed charge sheets in 12 vigilance cases before various courts. Additionally, 7 new vigilance enquiries were initiated to investigate allegations of corruption thoroughly. Eight criminal cases were also registered against 17 accused individuals, including 11 government employees.

Further, courts delivered verdicts in three bribery cases prosecuted by the VB, convicting five individuals. The convicted persons received prison sentences ranging from three to five years, along with fines between ₹10,000 and ₹67,000.
