Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL) is thrilled to welcome its new cohort of undergraduate students for the Academic Year 2024-25. The orientation program, which commenced on July 20, 2024, will span a week, introducing 201 BA LLB (Hons) students to the diverse academic and social life within the RGNUL community.
The program began with an inaugural address by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Jai Shankar Singh, and the Registrar, Prof. (Dr.) Anand Pawar. Prof. Pawar kicked off the event with an introduction to various university teams, outlining the university’s motivations and goals for the orientation. He provided an overview of the academic programs and the historical context in which the new students are joining the university.

Following Prof. Pawar, Vice Chancellor Prof. Singh addressed the students, focusing on the foundational vision and mission of RGNUL. He emphasized the distinctive and symbolic elements that make RGNUL a unique place for legal education.
The orientation program was honored with the presence of keynote speakers Lt. Gen. Jagbir Cheema, Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University, and Prof. (Dr.) VK Ahuja, Director of the Indian Law Institute, Delhi. Lt. Gen. Cheema praised the university’s infrastructure and decorum, highlighting RGNUL as a model for other universities in Punjab. He stressed the importance of community and residential life for achieving one’s full potential.
Prof. Ahuja provided the students with insights into the professional and ethical dimensions of the legal field. He painted a holistic picture of pursuing law as a career, discussing roles in law firms and litigation.
The program was organized under the supervision of esteemed RGNUL faculty members Dr. Brindpreet Kaur, Dr. Abhinandan Bass, and Dr. Sangeeta Taak, who emphasized the importance of organizational unity and teamwork to the new students.
