Secretary (Sports) and SAI Director General Conduct Two-Day Visit to NSNIS Patiala

The Secretary (Sports), Government of India, and Director General of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Shri Hari Ranjan Rao, conducted a two-day visit to the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NSNIS), Patiala. Accompanying him were Vishnu Kant Tiwari, Secretary SAI, and Colonel N.S. Johal (CEO, TOPS). The visit aimed to review the institute’s infrastructure, ongoing activities, and future development and strategic plans, marking a significant step in strengthening the facility.

Senior Executive Director and Deputy Director General of NSNIS Patiala, Vineet Kumar, warmly welcomed Rao and provided a comprehensive overview of the institute’s core activities, including athlete training, coach education, sports science initiatives, and talent development programs. He also outlined a roadmap for future infrastructure development and academic advancements to further enhance the institute’s role in India’s sports ecosystem. Beyond infrastructure assessment, Shri Rao engaged in meaningful discussions with faculty members, administrative staff, and other employees. In his address, Rao reaffirmed the Government of India’s commitment to building a robust sports ecosystem and commended NSNIS Patiala’s pivotal role in shaping the future of Indian sports.
