Patiala, 12 January (Sports Desk)
Bangladesh has announced its 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, with Nazmul Hossain Shanto taking the captaincy reins. While the team aims to build on their 2017 semi-final appearance, a notable absence is veteran all-rounder and former captain Shakib Al Hasan.
Shakib is currently suspended from bowling in ECB-governed competitions following an independent re-assessment conducted in Chennai last month. Despite being eligible to play as a batter, the Bangladesh selectors have opted not to include him in the Champions Trophy squad.

The squad will also be without Tamim Iqbal, who recently retired from international cricket. Iqbal was a key contributor to Bangladesh’s semi-final run in the previous Champions Trophy.
Experienced players Mushfiqur Rahim (wicketkeeper-batter) and Mahmudullah (all-rounder) have secured their places in the squad. Excitingly, Parvez Hossai Emon has received his maiden ODI call-up, adding to his existing seven T20I appearances. Promising fast bowler Nahid Rana, who debuted in the recent series against the West Indies, has also been included.
