Short-Term Programme on “Professional Development for NAAC and IQAC Coordinators (Online)” Successfully Concludes

The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) at Punjabi University, Patiala, successfully concluded its week-long online Short-Term Programme on “Professional Development for NAAC and IQAC Coordinators” from August 5 to August 12, 2025. Organized in line with UGC-MHRD guidelines, the programme attracted educators and professionals from prestigious universities across India, equipping them with advanced skills and knowledge to enhance quality in higher education.
The valedictory session began with the traditional Punjabi University Dhuni, followed by a warm welcome from Prof. (Dr.) Raman Maini, Director of MMTTC and Professor of Computer Science and Engineering. Dr. Maini extended greetings to the chief guest, Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University; Guest of Honour, Prof. (Dr.) Dharamveer Sharma, Director of IQAC and Research Centre for Technical Development of Punjabi Language, Literature, and Culture; Course Coordinator, Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Professor of Mathematics; and all participants. Dr. Maini expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for his unwavering support and highlighted the programme’s success in uniting coordinators to foster quality, transparency, and accountability in higher education. He noted that the sessions blended theoretical frameworks with practical case studies, empowering participants to implement effective quality enhancement measures. Dr. Maini congratulated participants, emphasizing that “quality is the foundation of trust, credibility, and relevance in institutions.”
In his presidential remarks, Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh celebrated the programme’s success, stating, “Quality is not a one-time achievement but a continuous journey, and NAAC and IQAC coordinators are its custodians.” He underscored the programme’s role in building capacity, deepening understanding of NAAC processes and IQAC responsibilities, and aligning with the National Education Policy’s goals. Prof. Singh congratulated faculty, resource persons, and participants for their dedication and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to academic excellence through such initiatives.

Guest of Honour Prof. (Dr.) Dharamveer Sharma delivered an inspiring address, describing the programme as a vital platform for collaboration and collective learning. He emphasized that professional development for coordinators translates into sustainable, measurable outcomes, stating, “When coordinators lead with integrity, clarity, and innovation, NAAC grades reflect true quality practices.” Prof. Sharma also praised Dr. Maini’s commitment to the programme’s success.
Participants shared enthusiastic feedback, highlighting the course’s transformative impact. Course Coordinator Dr. Rakesh Kumar expressed fulfillment in witnessing participants’ engagement and growth, noting that the acquired skills would enable innovative teaching practices. He thanked the organizing team, technical staff, and support personnel for ensuring a seamless experience and proposed a vote of thanks.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Maini commended the dedicated staff—Dr. Mandeep Singh, Mr. Dyal Dutt, Mr. Surinder Singh, Mrs. Kanta Rani, Mr. Mahaveer Singh, and Mr. Surinder Kumar—for their exceptional organizational efforts, ensuring the programme’s smooth execution.
