SP Oswal, Sandeep Jain, and Rajnish Gupta to Lead First Three Textile Sector Committees in Punjab
-Punjab Government Forms Three Sector-Specific Committees to Propose Reforms for Textile Industry, Says Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora
Chandigarh, July 23
Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora announced the formation of three sector-specific committees to gather suggestions for enhancing Punjab’s industrial policy and ease of doing business. The Spinning and Weaving Committee will be chaired by SP Oswal of Vardhman Textiles. The Apparels Committee will be led by Sandeep Jain of Monte Carlo Fashions Ltd., Ludhiana, and the Dyeing and Finishing Units Committee will be headed by Rajnish Gupta of Bala Ji Dyeing.

The primary responsibility of each committee is to provide the government with structured recommendations for a tailored industrial framework/policy specific to their sector, considering Punjab’s unique industrial ecosystem and fiscal context. The committees will study policies of other relevant states to develop a best-in-class policy framework for Punjab, with recommendations due by October 1, 2025.

Each committee comprises a Chairperson and industry members, with the possibility of adding more members at the government’s discretion. Members represent diverse sizes, scales, and geographical locations to ensure comprehensive discussions, covering various sub-segments of the sector.
The Member-Secretary of each committee will provide secretariat support, organize meetings, and prepare minutes. The General Manager, District Industries Centre (GM DIC) from the Department of Industries & Commerce and the relevant Sector Officer from Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion (PBIP) will assist with administrative support as needed.
