Strengthening Agricultural Ties: Punjab Meets Argentina

Chandigarh, October 13
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday called for enhanced collaboration between Punjab and Argentina to make agriculture a more profitable and sustainable venture.

During his interaction with a delegation from Centro Agrotechnico Regional, Argentina, the Chief Minister expressed delight that the faculty and students of the prestigious institution were visiting the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) from October 8 to 17. He noted that agriculture—particularly livestock and grain production—is a cornerstone of Argentina’s economy, positioning the country among the world’s leading food producers.

Mann said that the visiting students, who are studying agriculture in Argentina, are in Punjab to learn about the state’s modern agricultural practices. He emphasized that both Punjab and Argentina share deep-rooted agricultural traditions, making a long-term partnership mutually beneficial.

Highlighting the potential for bilateral cooperation, the Chief Minister said both regions could exchange knowledge and technology to address shared agricultural challenges. He was pleased to note that an Argentine delegation will visit PAU every year as part of an academic exchange, while PAU students and faculty will also have the opportunity to visit Argentina to enhance their expertise in the agricultural sector.

“The challenges and solutions in agriculture are quite similar in Punjab and Argentina,” Mann remarked, expressing confidence that this growing cooperation would help both regions make agriculture more productive and rewarding.
