
– Deputy Commissioner honors winning students of inter-college and school debate competitions
Patiala, February 5
Patiala’s Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav presented certificates to the winning students of the inter-college and inter-school debate competitions organized by the Department of Political Science, Government Mohindra College, in collaboration with SVEEP Patiala.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that elections are an important part of democracy in our country, therefore every student, along with being a good citizen, should also be an aware voter for a strong democracy.

Dr. Preeti Yadav said that such debate competitions play a vital role in educating students about the importance of voting and using their right to vote responsibly and honestly. She said that it is commendable that the students enthusiastically participated in these debate competitions organized on the growing apathy among common citizens towards voting during elections, its reasons, and ways to overcome it.
The Deputy Commissioner felicitated Ali Hasan Naqvi and Doreus of Government Mohindra College, who stood first in the college category, and Pratham Kumar and Avpreet Kaur of Government State College of Education, who stood second. She also honored Shobha Sharma and Dolly Sharma of Government Senior Secondary Smart School Model Town, who stood first in the school category, and Prince and Seema of Government Victoria Girls Senior Secondary School, who stood second, by presenting them with certificates. Assistant Commissioner (G) Richa Goyal, Prof. SS Rekhi, Mohit Kaushal, and Election Tehsildar Vijay Kumar were also present on the occasion.
