In a key move to ensure the smooth launch of Punjab’s ₹10 lakh cashless health insurance scheme, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh chaired a high-level review meeting on Sunday to evaluate the ground-level progress of the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna (MMSY). The meeting, held at the State Health Agency Punjab, involved major stakeholders from the public and private healthcare sectors.

Attendees included representatives from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Punjab, Punjab Hospital and Nursing Home Association (PHANA), Punjab Civil Medical Services (PCMS) doctors, and leading private medical colleges. Principal Secretary Health Kumar Rahul and CEO of State Health Agency Sanyam Aggarwal were also present.

Reaffirming the Punjab Government’s focus on collaborative and people-centric implementation, Dr Balbir Singh stressed that strict adherence to guidelines, ethical practices, and full transparency are vital for the scheme’s success. “The government’s goal is to ensure every Punjab resident gets quality healthcare without any financial strain, achievable only through genuine cooperation among the government, doctors, and healthcare institutions,” he said.

The minister warned of zero tolerance for any violations of norms, stating that ethical conduct and transparency are non-negotiable for effective service delivery. “We see healthcare providers as partners in this groundbreaking initiative and expect the highest standards of professionalism,” he added.

IMA Punjab and PHANA representatives voiced strong backing for MMSY, promising complete support to speed up beneficiary enrolment. They highlighted the need to expand the network of empanelled hospitals for timely, quality care across the state. Welcoming the shift to the revised Package Master HBP 2.2, they noted that the new reimbursement rates will boost hospital sustainability and facilitate smoother execution.
