Taiwan Athletics Open 2025: Annu Rani, Rohit Yadav Win Javelin Throw Golds

India clinched 10 medals on the second day of the Taiwan Athletics Open 2025 in Chinese Taipei on Sunday, including six golds, three silvers, and a bronze. Medalists included Shaili Singh, Ancy Sojan, Vithya Ramraj, and Krishan Kumar, alongside javelin throw stars Annu Rani and Rohit Yadav.

Two-time Olympian Annu Rani secured the women’s javelin throw gold with a best throw of 56.82m on her second attempt, holding the national record of 63.82m set three years ago at the Indian Open Javelin Throw Competition. Sri Lanka’s Hatarabage Lekamalage took silver with 56.62m, while Chinese Taipei’s Pin-Hsun Chu earned bronze with 53.03m.

Earlier, Rohit Yadav, a two-time national champion, braved tough weather to claim the men’s javelin throw gold. Despite no athlete exceeding 75m in blustery conditions, Yadav led with a 71.46m opening throw, improved to 74.25m on his second attempt, and sealed victory with 74.42m in his final throw. Chinese Taipei’s Huang Shih-feng won silver with 74.04m, and Cheng Chao-tsun, a former Asian record holder and Tokyo 2020 Olympian, took bronze with 73.95m.

Vithya Ramraj dominated the women’s 400m hurdles, winning gold in 56.53s, finishing over a second ahead of the field. Local athlete Pei-Lin Lo secured silver with 57.91s, and Xin-Ru Zhong took bronze with 58.94s. In the men’s 400m hurdles, Yashas Palaksha earned silver with a personal best of 49.22s, behind gold medalist Chung-Wei Lin (49.00s) and Japan’s Yusaku Kodama (49.41s) in bronze.
