Woman Drug Smuggler Among Two Arrested in Ferozepur; 6.6kg Heroin, ₹6L Drug Money Recovered

Chandigarh/Ferozepur, August 8
In a major breakthrough against trans-border narcotic smuggling networks amidst the ongoing war against drugs waged on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Ferozepur Police has arrested two drug smugglers, including a woman, after recovering 6.65kg of heroin and Rs 6 lakh in drug money from their possession, stated Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav on Thursday.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Simran Kaur alias Indu (38), a resident of Moga, and Gurjot Singh (28), a resident of Jaimal Wala in Moga. Both have criminal backgrounds, with Simran facing at least 15 criminal cases related to the NDPS Act, Prisons Act, and others.

DGP Gaurav Yadav mentioned that Ferozepur Police received reliable information that Simran and Gurjot had retrieved a large consignment of narcotics dropped using a drone from across the border. They were on their way to deliver it to someone in their Toyota Innova car with registration number DL12CC6003.
Acting swiftly, police teams from CIA Ferozepur set up a checkpoint at Old Mudki Road and arrested both suspects, seizing 6.65kg of heroin and Rs 6 lakh in drug money concealed in the Innova car. The police have also impounded the vehicle.
The DGP added that investigations are ongoing to establish forward and backward linkages in this case.
Sharing more details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ferozepur Saumya Mishra said that after working on technical inputs, the CIA police team successfully conducted the operation and made the seizure late Wednesday night. The investigation is ongoing to identify the Pakistan-based drug smuggler and the individuals to whom the arrested persons were supposed to deliver the drug consignment.
The SSP added that police teams will also initiate the procedure to forfeit the illegally acquired property of the arrested smugglers under Section 68F of the NDPS Act.
A case FIR No. 59 dated 7-8-2024 has been registered under Section 21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Ghal Khurd in Ferozepur.
