India capped off an extraordinary campaign at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2025 on Thursday, March 13, finishing atop the medal standings with an impressive haul of 134 medals—45 gold, 40 silver, and 49 bronze—at New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Adding to the celebration, the federation announced that New Delhi will host this prestigious event annually for the next three years, solidifying its status until 2028.

Preethi Pal Shines Again

Preethi Pal, the trailblazing Indian who made history at the Paris Paralympics as the first Indian woman to win two track and field Paralympic medals, added a bronze in the women’s 200m T35-T38 event on the final day. Her performance underscored India’s depth and talent on the global stage.

  • Women’s Long Jump T38, T44, T61: India’s Bhavani Munniyandi leaped 3.51m to claim bronze, while Australia’s three-time Paralympic champion Vanessa Low took gold with 4.96m, and Zhanana Fekolina secured silver.
  • Women’s 200m T35-T38: Australia’s Rhiannon Clarke clinched gold, with Neutral Para Athletes’ Margarita Goncharova earning silver, alongside Pal’s bronze.
  • Men’s 200m T35: Dmitrii Safronov (Neutral Para Athletes) won gold in 24.20s, followed by India’s Vinay (silver, 29.58s) and Abhishek Babasaheb Jadhav (bronze, 31.55s).
