East Zone dominate

East Zone finished their first innings on a mammoth 708 runs in 163 overs, putting South Zone under enormous pressure. The biggest highlight was captain Ishan Kishan’s spectacular 270, while Kumar Kushagra scored 101. East Zone’s 708 is their highest score in the Duleep Trophy, surpassing their previous best of 561.

Ishan Kishan produced the standout performance of the match so far:

Kishan reached 250 but briefly retired hurt because of fatigue. He later returned to the crease and continued his extraordinary innings before being caught by Ravichandran Smaran off Tripurana Vijay for 270.

Kumar Kushagra’s century

Kumar Kushagra provided excellent support to Kishan, scoring:

Kishan and Kushagra added a massive 230-run partnership for the fifth wicket, which effectively put East Zone in complete control.

Lower down the order, Anukul Roy scored 45, Md Kounain Qureshi made 40, and Mohammed Shami contributed 28 as East Zone crossed the 700-run mark.
