Chandigarh, July 8
Punjab Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian today distributed appointment letters to 52 newly recruited employees of the department during a function held at Punjab Bhawan.
Congratulating the appointees, the Cabinet Minister said the new appointments would help address the shortage of manpower in the department while ensuring the timely execution and completion of ongoing as well as upcoming development projects across the state.
He informed that all 52 appointments have been made under the Punjab Government’s compassionate appointment policy. The newly inducted employees include three Junior Draftsmen, nine Clerks, 31 Sewadars, one Sweeper, seven Junior Technicians and one Helper Technician.
Urging the recruits to serve with honesty, dedication and commitment, S. Hardeep Singh Mundian said the Punjab Government remains committed to providing safe drinking water and quality sanitation services to the people while also creating meaningful employment opportunities for deserving youth. He added that the fresh appointments would further strengthen the department’s workforce and accelerate the implementation of key development initiatives throughout Punjab.
The Cabinet Minister further stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government has been carrying forward a transparent and merit-based recruitment drive across various departments. As part of this initiative, the state government has so far provided more than 68,000 government jobs to the youth of Punjab.

Highlighting the department’s recruitment achievements, S. Mundian said that with today’s appointments, the Water Supply and Sanitation Department has completed a total of 520 recruitments across various categories since 2022. Earlier, 468 appointments were made, including 44 Sub-Divisional Engineers, 97 Junior Engineers, 81 Junior Draftsmen, 41 Clerks, 27 Stenotypists, 25 Junior Technicians, 76 Helper Technicians, 71 Sewadars, one Chowkidar and five Sweepers. These employees are currently serving in different districts across the state.
Expressing confidence in the newly appointed employees, the Minister said they would discharge their responsibilities with sincerity and professionalism, contributing significantly to strengthening the department and improving the delivery of public services across Punjab.
