63% Voter Turnout Recorded in By-elections for 4 Punjab Assembly Seats

Chandigarh, November 20

The by-elections for four Punjab Vidhan Sabha seats witnessed a 63% voter turnout till 6 PM, as per Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sibin C. The final figures will be confirmed by the next morning, once all polling parties return to their respective collection centers and the data is fully compiled.

Constituency-wise Turnout

The highest voter turnout was recorded in Gidderbaha (84), where 81% of eligible voters participated. Other constituencies reported the following turnout till 6 PM:

  • Dera Baba Nanak (10): 63%
  • Barnala (103): 54%
  • Chabbewal (44): 53%

Gratitude for Peaceful Elections

CEO Sibin C expressed his appreciation for the voters who actively participated in the democratic process. He also extended gratitude to Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers, Returning Officers, and all electoral staff for their meticulous management and strict supervision, ensuring a peaceful and efficient voting process.

The CEO commended the Punjab Police, Central Armed Police Forces, polling officials, and volunteers for their dedication in maintaining security and ensuring smooth operations at polling stations.

He also thanked political parties and candidates for their cooperation throughout the election process and recognized the positive role of the media in supporting and reporting on the elections constructively.

The elections concluded peacefully, reflecting the collective efforts of all stakeholders involved.
