Tenders for ₹1.01 Crore Bridge at Daboorh and ₹70 Lakh Bridge at Upper Daboorh to be Floated Next Week

Harjot Singh Bains, Punjab Cabinet Minister for Education and Information & Public Relations, stated that the heavy rains in Tarhksaar, Himachal Pradesh, on September 18 have caused extensive damage in the region.
During his visit to the affected villages today, the Minister observed that the road network has been severely disrupted. Rising water levels in streams have badly impacted the local population, with children unable to attend school and patients facing difficulties in accessing medical treatment.
Bains announced that approval was received just yesterday for the construction of two bridges—one at Daboorh costing ₹1.01 crore and another at Upper Daboorh costing ₹70 lakh. Tenders for both projects will be floated next week. These initiatives will permanently resolve the 70-year-old connectivity challenges faced by villages in the Changar area.

He further revealed that approval has been granted for the construction of culverts worth ₹8 crore, with work to commence soon. The Minister noted that streams in this area frequently overflow during heavy rains. Today, excessive water flow in the streams of Mangeval, Daboorh, and Lohand has led to significant losses of crops and livestock.
Bains mentioned that he had previously visited villages such as Aaspur and Aalowal, where relief efforts have already begun. He assured that a special girdawari (damage assessment survey) will be conducted in Daboorh and other affected areas, with compensation to be provided at the earliest.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab government has committed to providing ₹20,000 per acre in compensation for damaged crops, whereas no assistance has been received from the central government so far, he added.
The Minister also stated that losses to houses and livestock are being evaluated. In addition to government compensation, immediate relief is being arranged with the support of local friends, well-wishers, team members, volunteers, groups, and residents to ensure aid reaches the needy without delay.
On this occasion, Block President Tarlochan Singh Lochi, Truck Union President, Dr. Jarnail Singh (AAP leader), Varinder Singh (AAP youth leader), Bindu Mazher, Veer Chand, Gurinder Singh, Rajinder Singh, Jujhar Singh Dabor, Jarnail Singh, and a large number of prominent locals were present. They expressed gratitude to Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains for always standing by the people during natural calamities and for understanding the pain and hardships faced by the region’s residents.
