The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) at Punjabi University, Patiala, under the visionary leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh, inaugurated an 8-day Online National Education Policy (NEP) Orientation and Sensitization Programme on September 29, 2025. This initiative aims to enhance educational skills and foster academic excellence in higher education institutions by aligning faculty with the transformative goals of NEP 2020.
Inaugural Session Highlights
Director’s Welcome: Prof. (Dr.) Raman Maini, Director of MMTTC, opened the programme by extending a warm welcome to Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh, Vice-Chancellor, and Guest of Honour Prof. (Dr.) Sukhjeet Kaur, Professor of Computer Science and Engineering and Director, Planning and Monitoring, Punjabi University. He also acknowledged the Course Coordinators—Prof. (Dr.) Balraj Singh Saini (Professor, Mechanical Engineering and Dean, College Development Council) and Dr. Williamjeet Singh (Department of Computer Science and Engineering)—along with all participants.
Dr. Maini expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for his unwavering support in advancing faculty development and academic excellence. He praised Prof. Singh’s leadership in inspiring educators to engage with modern educational reforms and cutting-edge knowledge. Vice-Chancellor’s Address
Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh emphasized the programme’s role in preparing educators for academic excellence, professional effectiveness, and nation-building through the popularization of NEP 2020. He described the policy as a landmark reform—the first comprehensive education policy of the 21st century, introduced after over three decades. NEP 2020 aims to create a holistic, flexible, and multidisciplinary education system rooted in Indian ethos while meeting global standards.

Prof. (Dr.) Sukhjeet Kaur highlighted NEP 2020’s transformative focus on flexibility and choice, moving away from rigid academic streams.
